you can't ignore them anymore, especially if a competitor who can really leverage the technology can take it to places they were afraid MVIS would take it if they received any proper support. They dragged it out for 20+ years, and the inflection point now is either pick it up, or be left behind forever ala Kodak. It becomes a physics problem that these Tier 1's can't ignore anymore. In the case of near eye displays, these panel type displays just can't get around the design required to make it mass producible and appealing to consumers which require it to be light, fashionable, while having a wide FOV and high pixel density. Why would Sony help MVIS sell more of these projectors when it hurts their bottom line of OLED/LCD/LED line-ups (televisions) that have been vertically integrated already? MVIS was the first to market with a "true" pocket projector (Sony, Celluon). If LBS is such a life changing technology, why does this keep happening? Tier 1's take far more chances on lessor technology. Does anyone see a pattern here? Now we have moved on to Lidar. Why no go? And, oh, i almost forgot the "Display only" deal that never got off the ground. I don't doubt that the MVIS solution is smaller, better and cheaper. And, the product that this thread is about was at CES 2020 and made it to market. If you are someone who is looking for a cool projector to buy, look no further, Puppy Robot is launching their new product called Hachi Projector. I don't buy that the reason was totally related to covid 19. Hachi Infinite M1 Interactive Touchscreen Projector. However, the tier1 that was supposed to include it in a product backed out at the last minute. Then MVIS showed "interactive display" at CES 2020. Tier 1's said no and they did not fly off the shelves. Then, MVIS put the first decent projector in a phone with Movi and Blackview with very good proof of concept phones. What disturbs me is, that every time MVIS comes with cool first to market gadget, the market shrugs its metaphorical shoulders and says "i don't really need/want that".
